After spending the start of the week in Las Vegas, NV doing a live interview, John traveled back to Wisconsin to get ready for his next event – the 2019 Twin Bridge Takedown Ice Race in Crivitz, WI!
John was ready to make his debut as #44 in his first UTV race; competing in the Sportsman Class against experienced drivers more than double his age!
Friday was spent setting up and practicing to get a good feel for the UTV and how it handled on the ice track. The UTV was just fitted with new tires and off-sets, which worked great! On Saturday they had qualifications followed by the race. John had a good plan for the use of the fast lane, which can only be used once for the duration of the race. The plan was to utilize this lane on the last lap, however, this plan went another direction when one of the other racers bumped John into this lane early on in the race! John’s options were to take the lane or crash!
As John raced hard and fast, it was a close one as they crossed the finish line! John proudly took a 2nd place podium finish just barely behind 1st place! It was a fun and exciting day for everyone involved!
Then next UTV race for “Chasing the Triple” series will be in Shawano, WI on May 18-19! Stay tuned to see what excitement goes down at the US Air Motorsports Raceway!
