Rounds 1 and 2 in Antigo were hot ones. The first race of the season is always nice, racing with all the new gear and pit supplies from our great sponsors.
In round 1, John qualified 3rd in both, the prostock SXS and the prolite. He ended 4th in the prostock SXS after racing in 3rd place. It was an exciting race dancing on the possibility of a podium.

The prolite was a different story, John was inverted to 8th so the qualifying spot of 3rd quickly went away. It surely did not take long for the carnage to start. The sharp left at turn 3 caught up half the pack with John in the middle and eventually put him to the back of the field. John’s vehicle showed the visible wear of the collision.

With John’s relentless never give up attitude, he worked his way to the 5th spot; but not without getting a flat front left tire in the process. The time in the pits to change the tire put John a lap down. He was able to pass half the vehicles on the track but it was not enough to regain the lap. John made the best of the carnage and made his fans extremely happy with souvenirs of his body panels. Round 2 would bring a new body and a new chance to get on the podium.

The John Holtger Racing team put in overtime Saturday night to put the prostock SXS and prolite in race ready condition. The crew put on new Yokohama tires, new Fiberwerx bodies, new bumpers to name a few items for these vehicles to hit the track.
John began the UTV prostock SXS with a really good start. He went thru the tricky corner 3 and was in 4th place. Coming thru the infield right turn John raced alongside the 3rd place UTV who biked and corrected then landed up against John. Being pushed sideways John bumped back and forth until he lost control and rolled. John ultimately landed on his side with a broken tie rod and race being over for this class.

Moving into the prolite John made his way around the tremendous corner 3 left hand turn and moved up at least 5 spots by the time he hit the whoops section. At this point John became a sandwich with contact from the right and the left. The extreme contact cut John’s the left rear tire off the rim taking the brake lines along with it. And that was it for the prolite. The damage was more than what could be fixed in the hot pits.

Up next the John Holtger Racing team heads to Crandon for rounds 3 and 4 on June 26 and 27th. Thank you all for your support.
